The outdoors revitalize my being no matter the activity and even if only for a moment.
Being outdoors reminds me of what is most important; therefore, I long most days to be in the great outdoors.

California visits Utah...

JD catching a whitefish while nymphing.

A decent brown from the Blacksmith.

A nice Cuthroat from the Blacksmith.  Originally hooked in the mouth but flopping around in the net sent the nymph flying.  Thanks to my buddy Gilbert for tying me up some nice flies.

Another Cuthroat.  JD in the background.

My buddy of 23 years,  John-David has moved back to Utah!  I took his brother, Robert and his friend, Dave fishing Friday evening of 2 weeks ago on the Logan River.  We found a really good pool below 2nd dam that was holding all of the fish due to low flows.  It was a good way to get Robert a good feel of what it is like to nymph.  We then headed way up stream, but didn't have much luck.

The next day, Saturday we started off at Newton for Tiger Muskies.  The water was still low, but up 4 ft from the previous couple of weeks.  Robert had 2 followers and I saw a tiger muskie chase about a 16 inch bass up onto the shore!  We then headed to Mantua- the water was murky and the wind was incessant.  We soon bailed and headed for the Blacksmith Fork.  Above was our luck.  I think I caught about 7, JD 3, Dave 3 and Robert 0.  Robert did catch several the day before on the Logan though.

Muzzleloader buck Muledeer hunt...

A pretty small 2 point, but "It'll eat good."(Boehme).  I took the shot from 81 yards away (range finder) while he was on the move.  I wasn't picky (obviously), I just wanted to get some meat in the freezer.
The hunting crew.  Shaun Boehme and I top right.  Duane Williams and I bottom right.  Thanks to them and John Hall who went hunting with me during the hunt.  Thanks also to the walk-in access landowner up in Richmond.  It was a fun morning.  Duane should of had  a nice 4 point.  I think just seeing it will keep Duane hunting for years to come.  During this hunt we saw lots of doe, grouse and turkeys.

End of the Elk Hunt...

Well I didn't get an Elk. I really enjoyed the Limited Entry Bull Archery Hunt for the North Cache unit though. I did see a lot of elk. I even saw a bull elk several times, but the closest I ever got was about 80 yards away. My buddy John and I were able to get right in the elk heard one day. We also sat at a water hole one night and had a nice 2 point buck come in 20 yards away to water and then feed in front of me 10-15 yards away for a half and hour. That same night I had a cow elk come in 20 yards away. We heard lots of bulls bugling, but it was always after dark. I saw a lot of moose, including one bull moose that was only 20-25 yards away. I got to hike and learn a lot of land. Thanks to my buddies- John, Brad and Austin. I look forward to future elk hunts!

Family fishing at Mantua

The bigger part of our catch.
We just finished going fast across the reservoir.
Nathan and Dan.  I'm supposed to be driving.
 Windblown Brittney.
Max and Nora adoring each other.
 Intense fishing.
 Chaos with the kids.
 Caleb being focused on fishing.
Dan and Nathan as the sun was going down.
Lori kissing a fish (she didn't know the angle I had on the camera :) )
All the kids touched the fish even Afton.  They loved watching the fish in the livewell.

Fishing with my Step-Dad on the Logan River

Chris, my Step-Dad battling the higher flows from run-off.
A decent brown I landed.  He took the stone-fly.
Chris picked up casting pretty quick.
His confidence in the water grew pretty fast too.
A very promising hole that produced nothing.
I had two other fish hooked but was unable to land them.
My Okuma rod (3-4 wt) and back side of reel.
Front side of my Okuma rod and reel.
A small waterfall running into the river.
 More of a waterfall.
Not bad for just phone pics.
